Heritage Day happening at armoury on Feb. 19, 2024
The Kawartha Lakes Museum & Archives is pleased to host an engaging new Heritage Day family event on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Victoria Park Armoury, 210 Kent St W, Lindsay. This event is free to attend.
The following organizations are joining the museum in presenting different presentations and displays related to local heritage topics:

There will be a series of speaker presentations including:
11 a.m. β Doug Paterson: Topic β George Laidlaw (1828 β 1889) The man, the railways, and his impact on the growth of rural Ontario.
12 p.m. β Larry Doble, Sunderland & District Historical Society: Topic β Brock Township Coat of Arms and the historical symbols in it.
1 p.m. β Sara Walker-Howe, author of Historic Citizens of Kawartha Lakes will discuss her book and share some stories of the interesting people that make up Kawartha Lakes history.
2 p.m. β Speaker Panel: Youth in Museum Careers β Join members of our museum team to learn about the different jobs that they do, their backgrounds, stories from the collection and more with a Q&A.
Interactive activities presented by Kawartha Lakes Museum & Archives will also include:
The Museum of Everything Storywalk β Experience the popular book by author Lynne Rae Perkins, with interactive stops along the walk.
Lithograph Art Lab β Learn about how the popular Currier & Ives lithograph art (1835-1907) was created while expressing your own creativity individually or as part of a group.
Lindsay Daily Post online research experience β Come investigate our newest online resource of Lindsay Daily Post newspapers from 1906-1974. Guests can search for their family, a business, or any topic of interest.
