EDUCATION
Alan attended Rose Hill Primary School. Took an interest in stamp collecting from the local general store.
1932
BIRTH
Alan Roy Capon was born to parents Ivy Frances Felgate and Henry William Capon in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
1940s
1944
EDUCATION
While Alan's father was serving in the Second World War, there were frequent air raids that forced students of Northgate Grammar High School to evacuate and seek shelter.
1948
MAGAZINE
In his teens, Alan published a small journal to share his philatelic pursuits with like-minded people.
1949
NEWSPAPER
Alan finds work at the East Anglian Daily Times in his hometown. He is introduced into the newspaper industry.
1949
NEWSPAPER
Becomes employed at the Ipswich Evening Star in his hometown. Witnesses an aircraft crash and fatality.
1950s
1951
SERVICE
Alan joins the Royal Air Force in England. He serves for three years. Queen Elizabeth ascends the throne during his time stationed.
1953
MARRIAGE
Alan marries Jean Brailsford in his hometown of Ipswich. The couple would have two daughters during their marriage.
1957
IMMIGRATION
With a family of three, Alan would emigrate from England. He departed to New York via Trans World Airlines and crossed the border into Canada.
1960s
1960
ADVERTISING
Becomes employed with the Robert Simpson Company, in the advertising department. Helped form the infamous Christmas Wishbooks in Lindsay.
1963
NEWSPAPER
Alan establishes the Minden Progress with a crew of six other people. The publication was operated out of house until it was sold to Al Grier.
1965
NEWSPAPER
Becomes editor of the Lindsay Daily Post while also doing photography at the John Boyd Studio. He involves himself in organizations such as the Kinsmen Club and CKLY Radio.
1969
BOOK

1970s
1970
NEWSPAPER
Alan transitions to bureau reporter position at the Peterborough Examiner, then to the Kingston Whig-Standard a year later. He would remain at this publication for 20 years total.

DIVORCE
Alan Roy Capon divorces Jean Brailsford.
1972
NEWSPAPER
Takes a three year hiatus from the Whig to work at the Picton Gazette as an editor and publisher. Remains in this role until it closes under Joe Cembalβs ownership.
